I have always been amazed by a Bison's ability to withstand the bitter cold and driving wind and snow of the northern plains.  Well suited, and almost prehistoric, they trudge through months of bitterness.  Their slow and steady pace and layers of fat and fur keeping them alive in unbearable conditions.
